End of Year Letter From the Head of School

It was my honor to take part in this year’s commencement ceremony, where I was able to speak to the accomplishments of our 2017 graduate and undergraduate classes as they leave us and enter a world of obstacles and opportunities.

Professor Kim Beck Exhibits Solo Show at Montalvo Art Center

Associate Professor Kim Beck exhibits new animations and works on paper in a solo show at Montalvo Art Center. As a Fellow at the Lucas Artist Program (LAP) at Montalvo Arts Center, the works on view in this exhibition were created by the artist during a three month residency at the LAP this spring. Beck’s worksare based on experiences of external and internal landscapes, the limits of representation and language, and the process of drawing as a metaphor for change.

Professor Elaine A. King Retires

After 36 years in the School of Art, Professor Elaine A. King will be retiring. King began teaching with CMU in 1981, and as a Professor of Art History & Theory has helped shape and carry the School of Art’s critical studies courses through three decades of modern and contemporary art. Sherri Wolfgang BFA ’83 Exhibits Solo Show at Housatonic Art Museum

Sherri Wolfgang BFA ’83 presents her first solo exhibition Jun 1 – Jul 31 at the Housatonic Art Museum, Bridgeport, MA, with an opening reception Jun 15 from 5:30-8pm. After graduating from CMU Wolfgang lived as a commercial artist in NYC.
