“PlayTime” is the first major thematic exhibition to survey the rapidly evolving role of play in contemporary art and culture.
Month: February 2018
Featured in the exhibition is newly commissioned work by artist-in-residence Professor Yeh. Through her painstakingly crafted, obsessively detailed paper reproductions of collection artifacts, Yeh defeats the utility of the objects, and draws attention to the human labor behind them.
Prof. Smith exhibits works from her 2008 Mattress Factory installation in which she worked with local Pittsburgh potter Bernard Jakub to make over 100 stoneware jugs, pitchers, bottles, and crocks.
“Event Horizon” is concerned with the edge between the screen and reality, as a place of manipulation and interpretation.
