Professor Devan Shimoyama will exhibit some of his sculptural work with Kavi Gupta Gallery at Frieze New York, one of the leading international contemporary art fairs. The fair takes place on Randall’s Island Park, May 2-5.

Coinciding with Frieze New York, Shimoyama will also show a painting with De Buck Gallery at 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, the leading international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from African and its diaspora. The fair takes place at Industria in New York City’s West Village, May 3-5.

In tandem with 1-54, De Buck Gallery will present the group exhibition “Conjuring Wholeness in the Wake of Rupture,” which is curated by Kilolo Luckett and includes work by Shimoyama. The exhibition, on view May 3-25, explores the countless ways the physical and spiritual body creates, shifts, and endures in the world.
