Today, our Senior Spotlight is focused on Liza Goncharova!

Briefly describe your artistic practice.
For me drawing is all about repetition. I try to imagine how many permutations of an image I can create using just a basic set of rules. In this way, it becomes like a game and chance process, wherein I am myself surprised by its myriad of outcomes.

What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a series of small, explorative, chance-based drawings that I hope might one day become ideas for costumes or props in an absurd ballet or film.

How has your artistic practice changed since you started working entirely from home?
Working from home has allowed me to rethink my relationship to scale. I feel I’ve always had an attachment to working large, somehow associating size with level of intrigue. Now I have allowed myself to relish small and intimate moments, and prioritize the process of making over the outcome of making.
