Lauren O’Connor-Korb is a sculptor and educator originally from the San Francisco Bay area. She is a lecturer and technician at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. She holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and a Bachelor’s degree in Spatial Art from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA. In 2019 she was the recipient of the International Sculpture Center’s Outstanding Student Achievement Award in Contemporary Sculpture.
Lauren’s research interests include language and the creation of meaning through systems and methods of communication, and the role of the artist in stewarding cultural transition. With a strong emphasis on craft, she creates objects which employ both humor and skepticism to deconstruct western inherited visual culture.
